Racing Awards

Award winners will be offered the choice of: 

• An engraved glass listing all awards won during the year 

• A certificate listing all awards won during the year 

• No physical award 

Novice: The Sailing Sub Committee will identify Novice Helms before the start of the season and post a list in the clubhouse and will review this periodically. Novice Helms remain as such throughout the sailing season unless they win a series or award. A member may contact any member of the Sailing Sub-Committee if he/she wishes to be included or removed from the list.

Award Definitions

Number of Awards 

For all Series an award shall be made to the first boat in each of the categories below. Awards shall be made for 2nd place if there are three or more qualifiers. Awards for lower places shall be made to 25%, rounded up, of the number of qualifiers. 

Note: Awards restriction – a helm can only receive an award within the ‘All Dinghies Category’ and one other Category. SI 18 Change of boat applies.

Class Awards 

The Class Captains of the Adopted Classes may make awards based upon elements of the sailing programme according to criteria that they determine. 

Adopted Classes 

In accordance with Bye-law 16 the Club has adopted the following classes: Comet, Laser, Topper, Gull, GP14, Miracle, Wanderer, Mirror and Comet Versa.

Results Disputes

Following the completion of each series, a summary of results and awards will be published on our race results programme, HalSail. Any dispute regarding a trophy result must be submitted in writing to the Sailing Secretary within one month of the date on which the results are published.
